Who we are
Wild Data was built from hands-on field experience. What started as a DIY passion for electronics and IoT projects evolved into a business helping lodges, farms, commercial operations and property owners gain real visibility over their utilities and environmental systems.
We combine practical experience working with electronics and hardware with software integration and real-time data platforms. We specifically set out to build systems designed to operate in remote regions and off-grid locations — where WiFi and cellular signal are often unreliable or completely unavailable. The goal is to offer a simple, dependable way to monitor water, energy usage, boreholes, pumps and environmental conditions without relying on WiFi coverage, mobile data, or overly complex infrastructure.
The business grew from seeing too many operations locked into closed platforms, rigid subscriptions and limited integration options. Wild Data takes a different approach: we integrate what you already have, recommend what actually makes sense, and build systems that remain flexible and future-proof. Whilst based in Pretoria, we have set up systems across South Africa.
Every solution is shaped by lessons learned on site — from installations that worked perfectly to the ones that taught us what not to do. The goal is simple: build monitoring systems that are robust, transparent, and genuinely useful to the people running the operation.
Our approach

- Systems are built on reliable open-source software, giving you control over your data and avoiding proprietary lock-in.
- Every installation is different. We listen to what you're trying to achieve and design monitoring that fits your operation.
- Automated monthly reports are included as standard — no manual data exports or extra fees.
- If we can't do something or if there's a better solution elsewhere, we'll tell you upfront.
